SACHINS MOTHERS SPEAK

Young Sachin with his mother & elder brother

sachins mother name is rajani tendulkar she is second wife of ramesh tendulkar ajit nitin savitha and sachin are the children ramesh tendulkar was married rajanis sister i.e sachins badi maa.She is is worlds one of proudfull mother. Here staed about Sachin Tendulker in the SUNDAY SPECIAL on 23-03-2008.

QUES 1: How do you manage to keep away from the limelight, which is usually focused on the family of a celebrity like Sachin?

Ours is a very close-knit, traditional Maharashtrian family and we do not like too much intervention from outsiders. Like any conservative Indian woman of my age, I avoid coming out in public. All of us, specially my sons Ajit and Sachin, are very private people. Sachin is very quiet and shy and likes to keep to himself. He has excelled in cricket and I am extremely happy for him.

QUES 2: Many people would like to know how he was initiated into the game and what factors helped him reach where he is today. Were you also interested in the game?

Sachin’s father was a cricket enthusiast and he played an important role in making Sachin what he is today. I don’t know much about cricket. It was only when I got married to Sachin’s bhau (father) and after my sons started playing with other children in the street that I discovered the game. Sachin took to cricket at a very young age. Chhutpun se hee usko to cricket ka dhun savar rahta tha, subah ko, sham ko, khana-peena sab chhor kar bas khelne jane ka tha. (Whatever the time of day, he was always keen to just go and play cricket).

When he was all of eight, he used to go and play at Shivaji Park. Right after school he would keep the schoolbag, grab the bat and take a bus. His chacha-chachi (uncle and aunt) were staying there. I would ask them to give him something to eat, nashta-mithai but food was the last thing on his mind while he was playing.

Whenever I would scold him and ask him to take studies more seriously he would say, ‘‘you don’t worry, khalipili tension mat le ayee’’. He always looked up to Sunil Gavaskar. All his friends would say that they wanted to be as big as Gavaskar. Sachin would keep quiet and concentrate on playing. The day he was selected in the team, the entire family was so happy. It was like a dream come true for all of us. Those who know Sachin know that he doesn’t play for records, cricket is his life.
When people ask me how I feel about his success, all I say is that I am proud of him. He is a very simple boy and not fussy about anything. For me he is still my little Sachchu.

QUES 3: How do you feel when you see him on the pitch? What memories do you have of the famous incident when Sachin was hit on the face by a Waqar Younis bouncer at Sialkot, during his very first Test series? (He was bleeding profusely, but refused to leave the field and went on to score a half-century.)

I don’t see him play at all. I get very tense and nervous, so I always see the highlights the next day. That day also I did not see him getting hurt, but was very scared when I got to know. However, soon I was assured that he was fine and since he continued playing, I felt so proud of him.

QUES 4: You mentioned that Sachin’s father was his guiding force. Most of us still think of Sachin as a youngster and forget that he is himself a father of two. How is he with his children? He is a very doting father. He doesn’t get much free time, but whatever time he gets, he likes to spend with his family. That is one of the reasons why his social interaction is so limited.

Anjali is a very responsible wife and daughter-in-law, who takes care of us. He may be far from home physically but he is very close to us, he needs to keep talking to his family, specially his children. He likes to go to their school, specially for functions.
I really miss my husband, had he been there he would have been so happy. I am sure Sachchu must be missing him a lot, he loved his bhau and was closest to him.
Today, when I see his kids calling him baba, every time they remember their baba I think of Sachin remembering his bhau.

QUES 5: What message would you like to convey to the mothers of budding players?

Like all mothers I always prayed for what he wanted. I never forced him to be a doctor or engineer because I know he loves cricket and it’s best to let children do what they are happy doing. After all, it’s their happiness that matters the most.

QUES 6: How are your days spent? Don’t you travel with Sachin?

I suffer from joint problems due to old age, so I am not in a position to travel. My time is largely spent in temples and reading scriptures. Even Sachchu is a very religious boy. There is a small Ganpati mandir in Shivaji Park he visits regularly, though not so openly now. He usually goes there well past midnight.

'Now I am just waiting for him to come back. More than me, it’s my little Sarah and Arjun (Sachin’s children) who can’t wait to speak with him. Every time the phone rings, they think it’s their baba’s call, they run to pick it up. I see Sachin’s childhood days in them all over again.

So we know it and also understand that Sachin’s mother had a great vision and pray for her world famous child

SACHIN TENDULKER'S NEW HOUSE

Legand cricketer Sachin Tendulkar and his family on September,2011 moved to their new house in Mumbai's Bandra area.sachin was spotted entering his five-storey mansion . Sources said that he was keen to shift to his new house during the Navratri festival.

Confirming the news Sachin said, "I have moved to new place. We are happy as a family to have moved to this place."

"Lemar apartment, where I used to stay was under sports quota. Many deserving sportsmen needed place to stay, so I decided to leave," he added.

The bungalow, built in Bandra West's Perry Cross Road area, was bought by Sachin for a whopping Rs 39 crore. While it might look like a triple-storey house from outside, the structure is actually spread across five floors as one-and-a-half floors are underground.

The new house Sachin's mansion has been designed keeping the batting maestro's love for cars. The second basement of the house can hold 45-50 cars at a time.

The first basement comprises the kitchen, master surveillance room and servant quarters. These apart the house has three other floors where the master, who is just one short of his 100th international ton, will live along with his wife and kids.

The ground floor has a large drawing room with a separate dining space for the Tendulkars. Since Sachin is a devotee of Lord Ganesha, there is a temple on the ground floor. The floor also houses a special display area where Sachin's innumerable medals and trophies would be kept.

The first floor has been devoted to the kids, with separate rooms for his son Arjun and daughter Sara, while the top floor has been kept for Mr and Mrs Tendulkar.

The house has been made keeping the vastu elements in mind with special emphasis given to the kids' quarters. The plushest part of the house, however, is a swimming pool located on the terrace.

We wishes very happy life of Sachin & his family members in his new house.

Tendulkar's Dream:
Young Sachin had aspired of being a fast bowler. It was this dream that made him undertake trials at Chennai based MRF pace academy, but his small stature proved to be a major hindrance to his aspiring career. ( THANK GOD !!! else the WORLD would have been deprived of such a genius batsman. )

First step towards cricket:
Tendulkar's sensational journey to cricket stardom sparked of when his brother Ajit made him meet Mr. R. Achrekar ( Cricket Coach ). Sachin failed to perform in the first go which made him very nervous but his brother's persuasion led Mr. Achrekar give him another chance.

Turning point in his career
It was his change of school to Shardashram Vidya Mandir in Dadar - close to Shivaji Park on his coach's advice which marked a turn around in Sachin's career. He says," I use to bat in four nets at one strech. Whenever, I use to get tired, Achrekar use to keep a one rupee coin on top of the stumps and say, "Anyone who gets him out will take this coin. If no-one gets him, Sachin takes it." Tendulkar till date contributes this technique in being instrumental for enhancing his concentration. He still treasures the 13 coins earned by him during the practice sessions.

Naughty Duo
Sachin and his best pal Vinod Kambli hold the World Record of 664 runs stand for Shardashram School in inter-school tournament in 1988. Tendulkar candidly admits that the total would have never assumed mammoth proportion had he and Kambli not ignored the man waving from the boundary with the coach's message to declare.

Tendulkar's Idol
Tendulkar's idol is the American Tennis superstar-John McEnore. During his young age, he argued and fought for McEnore with his colony friends who supported Swedish Bjorn Borg. Sachin sported a head-band, sweat-band and a tennis racquet showing his staunch loyalty towards his idol.

Family Quirks
Sachin's wife Anjali tends to become nervous while he bats, whereas his brother has become so superstitious that he allows the family members to only watch the match recording. His reactions to his dismissals

Tendulkar is a God fearing person, a staunch devotee of Sai Baba, Ganpathi and frequently visits temples during night when it's calm and quiet. He visualizes God in his parents. He loves celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi at home with his family and believes that it firms his ties with his loved ones.

Funniest Moment
Once I (Sachin) was batting with Vinod Kambli for a school match. Vinod dropped his bat in the middle of the game and started to fly a kite. It was so funny, I really can't forget that day in whole of my life.

SACHINS FIRST TEST VICTORY AS CAPTAIN

Sachin TENDULKER'S first test victory in his very first test match as Captain when India beat Australia at the Ferozshah Kotla in New Delhi in the first ever Gavaskar-Border trophy test match played from the 10-14th of October 1996. The match will always be remembered for Nayan Mongia's 152 which the wicket keeper batsman scored as an opener and for which he was awarded with the man of the match.

His first test victory came during the 'Navratri' season a period of nine nights during which people celebrate by dancing and playing dandia or garba which is a form of group dance and worshipping Godess Durga. The festival is particularly popular in Calcutta, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Karnataka.

The 10th day is celebrated as Dussera a day which symbolises the victory of good over evil as Lord Ram returned to his Kingdom Ayodhya after his 14 year exile and his victory in the battle with the king of Sri Lanka Ravana. After winning the test match Sachin said "this win is a gift by the team to the cricket fans all over India on the occasion of Navratri."

All cricket+sachin's Fans of the world enjoyed this great moments.

SACHINS FIRST HUNDRED AS CAPTAIN OF INDIA

As Captain of India at the tender age of 23 Sachin scored a hundred (his ninth in ODI's) against Sri Lanka at the Premadasa Stadium in the Singer Trophy on 24th August 1996. Sachin scored an unbeaten 109 but India ended up losing the match tamely by nine wickets as Sanath Jayasuriya blasted a hundred in quick time. It was a festive occasion for the Indians and Sri Lankans as it was Coconut Day a national holiday in Sri Lanka and Raksha Bandhan or Narli Poornima in India where the sisters tie Rakhi on the hands of their brothers and the brothers in turn pledge to protect and stand by the side of their sisters at all times.

SACHINS FIRST TEST HUNDRED

Sachin scored his first test hundred on 14th August 1990 against England at Old Trafford Manchester. He made a match saving 119 not out and he along with Manoj Prabhakar who made 67 not out saved the match for India after they were in dire straits losing six wickets for next to nothing before tea. That match saving effort also earned him the distinction of becoming the second youngest test player at the age of 17 years and 112 days to score a hundred.

His hundred followed a magnificent 50 in the first innings. Although it was bright and sunny in England it was pouring almost all day in India as it was Gokulashtmi (the day when the birth of Lord Krishna is celebrated by all his devotees). Gokulashtmi is normally associated with heavy rains. It was really very
Interesting score fulfill with cricket grammer.

SACHINS FIRST ONE DAY HUNDRED

Sachin Tendulkar scored his first one day international century after playing 78 matches and five years of international cricket. People were beginning to wonder whether he will ever get to the three figure mark but on September 9, 1994 he silenced all his critics with a masterly 110 against Australia at the Premadasa Stadium in Colombo in the Singer Cup.

His hundred helped India to win a match which was a do or die encounter for them as they had lost the previous match to Sri Lanka. Sachin's hundred helped India to a good total batting first and they ended up winning the match by a handsome margin. They also ended up winning the tournament beating Sri Lanka in the final. Sachin Tendulkar is a huge follower of Lord Ganesha (the Elephant God so widely worshipped in India) and that day happened to be Ganesh Chaturthi, may be that might have had something to do with his first one day hundred.

This first hundred is his turning point in cricket life.

SACHIN TENDULKER'S FIRST OPENING BATTING

Sachin Tendulkar first opened his batting in the second match of the four match one day series against New Zealand at Auckland on March 27th 1994. He was open the innings because Navjot Singh Sidhu was injured and no one else in the team was keen to open. It was his 70th one day international. Apart from it being a Sunday, it was also a day when the festival of colours "Holi" is celebrated in India.

India needed 146 to win in 50 overs and Sachin Tendulkar played one of his best innings in One day internationals blasting 82 in 49 balls. When he was eventually dismissed caught and bowled by left arm spinner Matthew Hart he was given a standing ovation by the packed Sunday crowd at Auckland. Not surprisingly he won the man of the match award for that innings. "It was a dream like innings and such innings happen once in a life time." is what Sachin said at the post match presentation.Howver the Indians also celebrated this innigs with ‘Holi”.

TENDULKAR'S SON ARJUN TENDULKER

((India's coach Duncan Fletcher shakes hands with Sachin Tendulkar's son Arjun (right) as Sachin looks on during Indian team's training session ahead of first Test against England at Lord's cricket ground in London.)

Arjun Tendular is taking part in his first nationwide cricket tournament. He is representing the MIG Cricket Club at the U-13 Cadence Trophy competition held in Pune. The competition features clubs from all over the country.

Arjun played his first match on Wednesday when he played against Vengsakar Academy where he got out without opening his account.

His second match was against the Cadence Cricket Academy. MIG cricket club fielded first, with Arjun Tendulkar fielding at the deep square leg position.

The ten year old Jr Tendulkar opened the batting for MIG club at the non-striker s end. He faced his first ball in the second over which he completely missed. He scored his first runs on a very fine stoke played with the use of the bottom hand.

However he soon got run out because of a miscommunication with his partner. MIG cricket club finally lost the 30-over match.
Arjun’s mother, Anjali Tendulkar, was there to watch her son play while Sachin scored his 44th hundred in Bangladesh.

On July 2011 Arjun Tendulker practiced at the Lord's cricket ground along with Indian cricketers ahead of the first of four Tests between India and England.
The 12-year-old was confident as he bowled to middle-order batsman Suresh Raina during a net-practice session in the presence of his father.

SHACHIN TENDULKAR'S WIFE

Anjali Tendulkar is India's favourite Bhabi. She is pleasent looking, ever smiling.
Sachin's wife, Anjali Tendulkar, is a daughter of an industrialist, Ashok Mehta. Both got married on 25 May 1995.She is a doctor by profession,She is a practising pediatrician working at the JJ Hospital in Mumbai .

Both make a brilliant couple, despite of the fact that Sachin's better half is four-year older than him. Well, age never makes a difference, and it should never be a hindrance in a relation bred on love and entwined in love.

It was a love-cum-arrange marriage. Both are blessed by 2 kids -- Sara and Arjun.

Anjali’s speech about their relation,’ I first met him at the Mumbai airport when he returned from his first tour of England in 1990, after scoring his maiden Test ton. In fact, when I first saw him at the airport, I didn’t even know who he was. It was purely by accident!”

Anjali had gone to the airport to meet her mom while Sachin was travelling with the Indian cricket team. It was there that the couple saw each other for the first time whereupon Anjali failed to place him at all on account of her zero knowledge of cricket.

Soon after the couple began dating and Anjali started stocking up on cricket magazines for increasing her GK. Though Sachin never liked to discuss cricket at home she confessed later.
Recalling their courtship days, Anjali Tendulkar narrated an incident wherein Sachin went for movie Roza with her under a disguise wearing a beard and specs. It was on account of Sachin’s rising popularity that they could not move freely in public. However, their love met its final destination in 1995 when they tied the knot after 5 years of courtship period.

She promptly gave up her medical career to provide ample support to Sachin’s flourishing career. With him being busy all the time with his international tours, Anjali needed to be home for the couple’s two kids. As a matter of fact, it is because of their excellent parenting that Arjun Tendulkar their son is speedily improving his cricketing skills!

Shachin tendulkar have very deep faith on God.So God gifted him a very happy personal life also…

Sachin Tendulkar childhood

Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar was born April 24, 1973, in Bombay (now Mumbai), India. His father name , Ramesh Tendulkar, was a language professor; he died in 1999and his mother name Rajni Tendulkar . Sachin has two brothers and a sister. He began playing cricket at age 2 1/2, with his grand mother in the family's backyard, using a broomstick for a bat. After he grew, he began playing street cricket with neighborhood children.

Then till 1983 world cup cricket, the first time and last to till date India won the world cup, cricket was just an entertainment to Sachin. However, having seen the glorious victory of Indian cricket team in the 1983 world cup, Sachin Tendulkar, a boy of ten, started dreaming of cricket and took it very seriously. Sachin’s elder brother Ajit Tendulkar, who himself used to play cricket in his youth, observed the hidden talent and passion of cricket in his brother. Then under the coaching of Ramakant Achrekar, official coach of Sachin’s childhood school and with constant help of his elder brother Ajit Tendulkar, Sachin would reach himself in such a feat that one can even dream of.

He was left-handed, but learned to bat with his right hand as a youth. Street rules required players to bat with their nonpreferred hand to increase their chances of being eliminated. After the family moved close to Shivaji Park in Bombay, Sachin's game began to improve. At ages twelve and thirteen, he was practicing and playing school matches a total of twelve hours a day on some days. He once played fifty-four matches in a row. His coach, Ramakant Acherkar, encouraged Sachin to play his hardest by placing a rupee on top of one of his wicket stumps and offering the money to anyone who got Sachin out. If no one did, Sachin won the money. He still treasures thirteen of the coins as child hood memory sign which he won in that way. At age thirteen, Sachin scored his first century (100 runs) at school, and the following year he was invited to a net session with the Indian professional team. At age fifteen, he and a friend set a world record of runs (664) for his school, and at sixteen, Sachin was picked to play his first Test match for India against Pakistan. His father signed the papers for him, because Sachin was too young. By age seventeen, Sachin had toured New Zealand and England with the team.

On the England tour he scored a match-saving 119 points, which made him the second youngest test century-maker ever. From there, his career has become better each year. On March 31, 2001, he became the first batsman to score 10,000 runs in one-day cricket, setting this record during a five-match series against Australia. He has broken the world record for maximum centuries in International cricket and continues to set records with every passing season. At the end of 2002 he was ranked third in the world in Test batting and was preparing for a forty-seven-day tour of New Zealand, after recovering from a hamstring injury. On 2011 world cup Shachin still showing his coine magic to the world…

Bangladesh vs England in world cup cricket 2011

Bangladeshi Golden boys Shafiul Islam and Mahmudullah became the toast of the nation on Friday March 11,2011 after steering their team to a stunning two-wicket World Cup win over England. The co-hosts looked to be probably heading out of the competition with England progressing to the last eight when they slumped.
To 169-8 chasing 226 to win on an unpredictable wicket with the ball reverse swinging.
HERE ARE RECORDED THIS HISTORICAL MOMENTS.

But at 169 for eight, it looked like they had just about managed to pull it off. A huge over off Graeme Swann swung the momentum back towards the home side, before Jimmy Anderson then lost his focus, his fire, his line, the plot and ultimately the game.

It seems almost impossible given all that's gone before, but somehow England have retained their ability to flabbergast. A fifth consecutive close finish in a row, and as if to illustrate perfectly the random nature of such games, they've claimed two wins, two losses and a tie. A win over the West Indies in their final game is now an absolute must, but they'll then have to sit tight for a few days and hope the West Indies don't turn over India, who have already qualified. Bangladesh will also have a chance to qualify at England's expense by beating Holland and South Africa. It really is a complete soup in that group.

The last word has to go to Bangladesh. What spirit, what guts and what skill. With their first ever World Cup campaign on home soil disappearing into thin air, and their public turning against them, they simply rewrote the script. They deservedly fight on. Have a good weekend, everyone.

From Ian Chandler: "Well done Bangladesh and a fantastic ninth wicket stand. No desire to remove some of the credit from the victors but England were truly awful and perhaps not such a shock to lose this today."

16.49 The Bangladesh team are doing a lap of honour. The stadium's perhaps a third full - everyone else left after the eighth wicket fell - but they're still making the noise of a full MCG. After Mitchell Johnson's just crusted some England tail-ender on the helmet. Except without the burping and, probably, the swearing.

The Analyst on Twitter: "Amazing match. Well played Bangladesh. 33 extras cost England. Have to beat Windies now."

That unbeaten ninth wicket partnership put on 58 from 56 deliveries. They're still cheering in Chittagong, the flags are still flying, and as the beaten England side drag themselves off the field, Group B is about as clear as a muddy puddle. England, by the looks of it, will need to beat the West Indies to qualify for the last eight.

49.0 227/8 FOUR! BANGLADESH WIN BY TWO WICKETS
Through the covers! One of the most famous wins in Bangladesh's history, and what a roar that is! Bangladesh have pulled their World Cup out of the fire with one of the gutsiest, most unlikely partnerships you could hope to see! Half the crowd had gone home!

48.5 223/8 Dot ball. 3 off 7.

48.4 223/8 Mahmudullah defends. Dot ball. Bresnan wants a slip. He doesn't get one. 3 off 8 balls.

48.3 223/8 Single down to third man! Ignominy beckons for England... 3 off 9 balls.

48.2 222/8 Good yorker! Shafiul digs it out - he's on 23 not out - and it's a dot. Four off 10.

48.1 222/8 Single to square leg as Bresnan strays too straight in line! Four off 11 balls! One nick, one edge, one hit...

OVER 48 BAN 221/8 A single to fine leg. Bangladesh need five runs off two overs. What on earth can Andrew Strauss do? He has a chat with Collingwood. Who's going to bowl the penultimate over? Bresnan...

47.5 220/8 A dot! Mahmudullah defends it. 6 off 13. Is there another twist?

47.4 220/8 A leg bye into the leg side. Strauss has to drag the field in now, surely? 6 off 14. England need these two wickets. That's the only way they're going to pull this one out of the reactor.

47.3 219/8 Last rites for England! Shafiul thumps it straight back past Anderson for four! What a marvellous hit! 7 needed off 15 balls.

47.2 215/8 Forward defensive from Shafiul. Dot ball. 11 off 16.

47.1 215/8 Single to Mahmudullah down to fine leg. Luke Wright cuts it off. Where did he come from? 11 off 17.

OVER 47: BAN 214/8 Mahmudullah 15* Shafiul 20* Shafiul hoiks it high over backward point! Who wants it? It drops short... and goes for four! Shafiul then scrambles a leg bye, Mahmudullah adds another single, and then Bresnan shoves in a horrible full toss, and Shafiul slams it away through point for four! That could be the ball game for Bangladesh! Someone get a message out to the mob down at Imrul Kayes's house. They may have been a trifle premature. Bangladesh need 12 off 18 balls. Jimmy Anderson's going to bowl... and I'm going ball by ball.

OVER 46: BAN 204/8 Mahmudullah 14* Shafiul 11* Five wides! Anderson begins his over with a gift down the leg side! That takes the number of wides this innings to 21, which is unforgivable in a game as low-scoring as this. Shafiul then pushes a single into the covers, before another wide by Anderson! And another! Anderson's completely lost the plot! He gets the next one on target, and it's pleasing to see that the concept of ironically applauding a struggling bowler has made its way out to the Indian sub-continent. Another single! The Bangladesh players in the dugout can barely bear to watch. The last ball is almost another wide, but it just clips Shafiul's pad, and they run a leg bye. Bangladesh now need 22 from 24 balls. That Anderson over cost 11. Daniel Murphy writes: "Jonathan, I was hoping to get a flier from work today but am now glued to the over-by-over updates. Please advise."

OVER 45: BAN 193/8 Mahmudullah 12* Shafiul 10* No Powerplay taken, so it will automatically come into force at the end of this over. That inner ring is watertight, pouncing to save the single, and Bresnan begins with four dot balls. Mahmudullah eventually scampers a leg bye, but an excellent stop by Bopara at cover saves a single. Bangladesh need 33 off 30 balls, and those last 30 balls will all be bowled under the rules of the batting Powerplay.
OVER 44: BAN 192/8 Mahmudullah 12* Shafiul 10* Anderson returns in place of Swann, who does have the tendency to concede the off 16-run over. It's the price you pay for genius, I suppose. Anderson's tactic looks to be short, wide and deceptively slow. It does for Shafiul, who's backing away to the leg side, but a fumble by Prior gifts Bangladesh a bye. Another single into the off-side from Mahmudullah. Three off the over, leaving 34 to win off 36 balls. Bresnan returns. Good move.
OVER 43: BAN 189/8 Mahmudullah 10* Shafiul 10* The crowd - what's left of it anyway - is back on its feet. Every run is now being cheered as if it's Elvis. Applause is pretty much constant. Shahzad starts with a wide to put England even further on edge. But it's a good line and length after that, just a single into the leg side from Mahmudullah. 37 off 7 overs. But just Rubel Hossain at number 11 to come. "How good is he?" David Lloyd asks. "Not too good," his local co-commentator Shamim Chowdhry replies.

OVER 42: BAN 187/8 Mahmudullah 9* Shafiul 10* Four! Mahmudullah - who has a Test century against New Zealand to his name - gets down on the reverse sweep and gets all four for it. And four more as Shafiul carves Swann over cover! And now, a huge six! The first six of the match, as Shafiul wallops Swann over mid-wicket! Tell you what, England might just be getting those butterflies again, especially with a batting Powerplay to come. That'll teach us to start looking at potential quarter-final opponents. 39 from 8 overs.

OVER 41: BAN 171/8 Mahmudullah 4* Shafiul 0* Just one off that over. File this email under 'Counting Your Chickens'. From Peter Rowntree: "What's this about getting thumped by the Aussies? Surely England will play their trump card now and call for a replacement - Alastair Cook. The man who should have been opening the innings with Straussy in the one-day series in Australia. One look at Alastair after the Ashes drubbing will just about scare the Aussies to death!" 55 needed off 9 overs.

OVER 40: BAN 170/8 Mahmudullah 3* Shafiul 0* Mahmudullah gets a single, but the run rate's now getting on top of Bangladesh too. 56 wanted off the last 10 overs, and as Shahzad prepares to start another over, this could be over in a hurry. Five wickets, for 15 runs, in nine overs.
WICKET! Razzak c Bresnan b Swann 1 (5) BAN 169/8

Let me tell you, that's an extraordinary catch. Huge slog sweep from Razzak, and it went absolutely miles in the air. Bresnan at mid-on back-pedalled for dear life, steadied himself, braced himself, and ended up tumbling to his left to take the catch. Shafiul Islam the new batsman, and there is actually now a queue to get out of the ground. You should try paying £80 for a ticket a Lords, chaps. If nothing else, paying £80 for a ticket really fixes your backside to that seat for every miserable minute...

Stuart Broad on Twitter: "Shaz you beauty! Good skills. 3 wickets for the QFs"
OVER 39: BAN 168/7 Mahmudullah 1* Razzak 1* Abdur Razzak, the left-arm spinner, is the new batsman. After two dot balls, Shahzad switches round the wicket and Razzak takes a single into the leg side. Mahmudullah then fences through backward point to get him off the mark. 58 needed off 66 balls.

WICKET! Naeem Islam b Shahzad 0 (5) BAN 166/7
Shahzad! Oh, brilliant! Oh, yes! That, you might be forced to conclude, is the perfect delivery. Again pitched on middle-and-off and hit the top of off. Hardly disturbed the stumps. Our Ajmal, you see, he only deals in bails. Surely this is England's game to lose now. The crowd certainly think so, as they're filing through the turnstiles and heading home, possibly via Imrul Kayes's house.
